
Prostate Cancer Awareness Events
According to the Louisiana Tumor Registry at the LSU School of Public Health, prostate cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death among men in Louisiana. The American Cancer Society recommends that men over 45 years speak with their doctor regarding prostate cancer screening.
Risk factors include increasing age, family history, dairy and calcium, vitamin E and folic acid supplements, and race. In Louisiana, black men have a higher rate of prostate cancer diagnosis and death.

Join the Louisiana Cancer Research Center (LCRC) partner, Tulane Cancer Center, physicians, and NFL legends Rickey Jackson, Bobby Hebert, and other Saints legends for this free men’s health event. The first 100 eligible men will receive a free PSA prostate blood test.

Free prostate cancer screenings are among the offerings at a free health expo organized by 100 Black Men of Greater Lafayette Inc. and the Acadiana Black Nurses Association.
