The Louisiana Cancer Research Center is much different today than it was a year ago.  LCRC Director/CEO Joe W. Ramos, PhD, hit the ground running last August and has not wavered in his commitment to transform the LCRC into Louisiana's Cancer Research Center.  He has realigned research programs, established new initiatives,  expanded our statewide presence and is working to align and support the research resources necessary to reduce the burden of cancer in Louisiana.

Highlights include:

Expanded statewide presence by extending membership to faculty at additional Louisiana research institutions

Established LCRC Office of Community Outreach and Engagement

Secured new $15 million investment from the State of Louisiana

Raised LCRC national and local awareness with the visit of First Lady Dr. Jill Biden, Senator Cassidy, Congressman Carter, and Mayor Cantrell

Established new trans-institutional research programs and held a full faculty retreat

Established the first summer student program with the new LCRC education component
