The Louisiana Cancer Research Center (LCRC) is seeking a Digital Communications Student/Intern with an interest in health, education, and community related communications with an emphasis on social media content creation and posting to accounts. The ideal candidate will be creative, organized and will display excellent communication skills; and can work independently or collaboratively as part of a team.
Duties may include any of the following:
· Coordinating and scheduling of Website, Facebook and/or Twitter postings for LCRC cancer programs on a routine basis
. Web content management, including developing and deploying new pages from existing design
· Posting content to LCRC social media sites
· Monitoring engagement on those sites
· Creating and/or maintaining a content calendar
· Assisting with gathering information for PR and media outreach activities
· Learning and assisting in writing attention-getting posts
· Exploring creative ways to relay communications content
· Staying on top of key trends in social media
· Working closely with& taking direction from the CAO and PR/Communications manager(s)
Successful applicant may also perform or assist with:
· Updating LCRC’s database and customer relationship management systems (CRM)
· Conducting content research
· Helping to organize meetings and events
· Performing some administrative tasks on an as needed basis
· Other related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
· Current enrollment in a marketing, communications, public relations, related degree program (unless graduating in current semester) at an accredited university or college or junior college.
· At least one year of content creating and posting on social media; or 30hrs of related course work. Related volunteer or freelance work may be considered
- Able to work up to 20 hours per week during the semester, and up to thirty-five during semester breaks
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office
· Excellent knowledge and experience with various social media platforms
. Basic understanding of HTML and CSS
Preferred Qualifications:
The preferred candidate will meet the minimum qualifications in addition to one or more of the below:
· Graduate level student in a related field
- Experience working with Webflow or a similar website building and/or hosting platform(s)
